Correction: Morning Glory vs. Peripapillary Staphyloma
The previous post about Atypical ROP and dismorphic eyes a showed a figured that I described an abnormal disc as Morning Glory Disc. My colleague Mike Blair, MD, suggested that the correct diagnosis is peripapillary staphyloma rather than morning glory. He noted first, the disc architecture was not really disrupted and colabomatous; second, the shape of the excavation was more tubular than funnel shaped; third, the vessels were not radial and fourth, there is little tissue over the disc. I suspect that he is correct. I will look for the article by Pollack on the topic.
